Issue: 19 CdA Workers Paid $100K+

It's easy to pick out the two biggest issues in the 2011 Coeur d'Alene City Council elections -- proposed McEuen Field changes and the Lake City Development Corp. But there's a third issue bubbling under the surface -- pay for top city employees. Nineteen city employees are paid more than $100,000. Additionally, another 18 employees are paid $73,784 to $98,292) Here's the positions paid over $100,000:

  • $125,459 -- City attorney/legal services director
  • $123,024 -- City administrator
  • $112,005 -- Treasurer/finance director, police chief, fire chief
  • $110,597 -- Deputy city administrator
  • $107,399 -- Police captain (2 individuals)
  • $100,012 -- Chief civil deputy city attorney, chief criminal deputy city attorney, city clerk/municipal services director, engineering services director, human resources director, parks director, planning director, street superintendent, wastewater superintendent, and water superintendent.

Question: Are top officials in the city of Coeur d'Alene paid too much?
