Marigold Vandals Hit Bentwood

Huckleberries Online made the recent issue of the Bentwood Park Bulletin. Bentwood Park? A year ago, this Huckleberry Hound joked about some vandals who were egging streets in the Bentwood area, off 15th Street. The egging wasn't funny. But the neighborhood newsletter describing the vandalism in terms of "egg spatter" was. Sorta. This year, the Bulletin has put out an all-points bulletin re: vandals who are snipping of the blossoms off marigolds lovingly placed in a couple's front yard -- to a point they are almost gone. "We know this isn't the work of deer," writes the newsletter reporter, because the vandals have moved the pulled flowers to another location and placed them like new flowers, sometimes as many as a dozen. This occurs sometime between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM. It's happened five times now. And, its very frustrating after working so hard to plant the flowers." Remembering the "egg spatter" comments of a year ago, the reporter adds: "Some may think this trivial. I know the Huckleberries guy does, but isn't this trespassing?" (Jesse Tinsley SR file photo)

DFO: For the record, I don't consider this vandalism trivial at all. How about you?

Question: I have quite a few marigolds in my yard, but the understated petunia is my go-to annual for color? Which annual do you prefer?
