Hippest USA City? Portland, Ore.

A new survey ranked Portland, Ore., as the most hipster-friendly city in the country. The Movoto “lighter side of real estate” blog compared the Rose City with other hipster hubs – including the very popular Austin, Texas. The researchers found that Austin had more hipster-aged people (20 to 34) and the most “artsy” jobs, but Portland led all the other categories. The bloggers said that from vegetarian restaurants and farmers' markets, to vintage clothing stores and record shops, Portland’s hipster draws surpass all others/KGW. More here.

DFO: I consider Portland, Ore., to be my guilty pleasure. Both kids have lived there. I've visited it several times a year since junior went off to Linfield in McMinnville, Ore., in 1997. I visited it this spring. Love the slogan, "Keep Portland Weird." Love to see wildly different hipsters without going to a truly big city. I simply like the vibe. Dunno that I would want to live there year round, though. How about you?

Question: Do you enjoy visiting Portland?
