Joker: Why Mary, Clones Will Win

Joker predicts:

The Coeur d’Alene city council is headed down a path that is reminiscent of the Coeur d’Alene school board.  It’s frightening to think about Mayor Souza.  If Mike, Woody and Deanna are replaced by Steve Adams clones, the city will be headed for dark times. The previous Coeur d’Alene School board showed how little they understood about governing. Mary Souza has been a vocal critic of city government, but what will happen when the critic becomes the criticized? I predict it will be great entertainment, but bad for the people. So how did we get to the point where Mary Souza is a legitimate candidate?   City leadership never developed the next generation.  There’s nobody waiting in the wings.  There’s nobody with any gravitas to step in. Mary and her crew are going to take over city government.  It’s a fact that people better get used to unless there are real candidates to challenge them. The stakes are so much higher than with the school board. Mary can do a lot of damage in four years. Is there anybody out there? (Wikipedia illustration)

DFO: I'm not sure I agree with Joker's contention that the city doesn't have individuals with gravitas waiting in the wings to take the reins from Mayor Bloem & Councilman Kennedy. Steve Widmyer of Fort Ground Tavern would be an asset on the council. Eden Irgens of Balance North Idaho would be another solid candidate. Sara Meyer and Jennifer Drake will be too busy with new babes to run. But they have gravitas after cutting their teeth stopping RecallCDA last year. Coeur Group should have good, young candidates, too. What do you think?

Question: Are their candidates out there who can stop city government from falling into the hands of anti-City Hall-all-the-time candidates?
