A former Idaho deputy superintendent of public instruction and district superintendent is in the running for the superintendent's job in West Ada School District. Trustees say they are inviting Mary Ann Ranells to spend a couple of days touring the district in the next couple of weeks. Ranells is a former Lakeland School District superintendent.

The Coeur d'Alene School Board approved an innovative concept proposed by Coeur d'Alene Librarian to expand service to the northwest part of town by moving into the Lake City High library. Two North Idaho hunters have been cited for illegally killing a grizzly bear, a federally protected species, earlier this fall near Wallace. Dan Tesky, of Silverton, and a 14-year-old boy each were cited by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game for misdemeanor unlawful taking of the bear on Sept. 30.

Less than 5 percent of the 590,000 Group Health members are registered to vote, and the health cooperative’s bylaws require members to register at least 60 days before a special meeting is held.
