Rusche calls for special session

Rusche said, “That is what is needed to cure the child support enforcement problem handed the families of Idaho by the House last weekend. Letting the action that will cost the state $46 million and disrupt payments to 155,000 kids stand is cruel and indefensible.”

Rusche, D-Lewiston, had strong words for the nine GOP House members who killed the enforcement bill on a 9-8 vote in committee. “They let paranoia and misunderstanding drive their votes rather than the best interests of Idaho and Idaho families,” he said. “They listened to the Idaho Freedom Foundation and the John Birch Society fringe groups rather than legal experts, child support specialists, and their constituents.” You can read his full statement here.
