Oath Keepers Face Oregon Protest

North Idaho isn't the only area with an image problem that attracts the Radical Right. Grants Pass and Medford, Ore., had their hands full of gun-packing Oath Keepers. The anti-government group, however, weren't the only protesters. It was met by an anti-Oath Keeper group that wanted the gun-packing zealots to out of town pronto.

Guard Activated For Baltimore Riot

H&W Calls Out Clueless Legislature

Randy Stapilus/Ridenbaugh Press writes: A recent e-mailed press release from an Idaho state agency took my breath away with shock when I read it. It still stuns me – and, too, other people I’ve discussed it with, who have a history of working in state…

How I Know Jet Lag Is Real

I've flown to Florida to enjoy time with Junior four times now in the five years he & Miss Stephanie have lived there. But this is the first time I've had problems bouncing back from the three-hour time difference, at both ends of the spectrum.…

Injury Puts Ex-Zag In Storm's Eye

When it happened, Kevin Love knew he was done for the day. Boston forward Kelly Olynyk, a former Gonzaga Bulldog star, is the individual responsible for dislocating Love's left arm in the first quarter of the Cavaliers' Game 4 win over the Celtics on Sunday at The TD Garden. Love believes Olynyk hurt him on purpose.

Short-Lived Adventure 11

Edit: 'Cheap' Won't Grow UI Enrollment

So what's special about a University of Idaho education? UI prez gives a weak answer: It's cheap and the university will help students manage their debt. However, an editorial in the Moscow-Pullman Daily News comments that Idaho would be better served by providing quality centers of education to attract students rather than cheap college.

In the Idaho Reporter, Dustin Hurst writes about the community organizing efforts of Democrat Anne Nesse and Occupy Boise movement leader Geoff Burns. Rubio: No 'Right' To Gay Marriage 31

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said it's "ridiculous and absurd" to believe there's a constitutional right to same-sex marriage, weighing in on the issue ahead of a landmark Supreme Court case. "It doesn’t exist. There is no federal constitutional right to same sex-marriage. There isn’t such…

Another Tubbs Hill Squatter 24

There's another squatter on Tubbs Hill, according to Walkabout, who snapped the photo of his/her/their camp site over the weekend. I've seen transients popping from the brush on the north side of the hill during my lunch walks along the waterfront. Seems like there's more wildlife on the hill than we suspect.

SNL's Cecily Strong Targets Vito

So I'm sitting in the Salt Lake City airport during a three-hour layover, watching the White House Correspondents' Dinner speeches when SNL's Cecily Strong mentions Vito Barbieri. That, of course, riveted my attention. You can read from George Prentice's Boise Weekly report below to see what she said about our amazing Vito.

More Quakes On The Way?

I was on vacation in Florida/Georgia last week when the earthquakes hit North Idaho. I've talked to several people about the quakes at a wedding reception Sunday. Some didn't experience anything. One friend from the Garwood area said the sensation he experienced was strange -- and he didn't want to go through it again. More could be on the way.
