Wind advisory in effect already

From Coeur d'Alene PD Detective Jared Reneau:

On Monday, the National Weather Service issued a high wind advisory for today and Wednesday for residents of North Idaho, including those of Coeur d’Alene. Gusty winds are forecasted for Wednesday with sustained winds of 35 mph and gusts up 55 mph. High winds combined with the wet ground create the potential of falling trees and other storm related hazards.

The Coeur d’Alene Police and Fire Departments would like to remind citizens to prepare for possible power outages by having enough food, water, flashlights, and any other necessary items you may need.

If weather causes power outages, remember the following: stay away from power lines on the ground and do not attempt to remove trees or tree limbs from power lines. For assistance, contact the power company for your area at the following phone numbers: Avista Utilities 800-227-9187, and Kootenai Electric 877-744-1055.

As always, if you need emergency assistance, please call 911. For all non-emergency issues, please use the non-emergency phone number (208) 446-1850 to contact the 911 Dispatch Center. Additionally, Kootenai County Emergency Services will be preparing for the forecasted weather and, if needed, will open the inquiry telephone lines. The phone number for the inquiry lines is (208) 446-2292.
