West Ada eyes ex-Lakeland super 

A former Idaho deputy superintendent of public instruction and district superintendent is in the running for the superintendent's job in West Ada School District. Trustees say they are inviting Mary Ann Ranells to spend a couple of days touring the district in the next couple of weeks. Ranells is a former Lakeland School District superintendent.

Guv, 170 others open crisis center 

More than 170 people turned out Tuesday for the grand opening and ribbon cutting for the new Northern Idaho Crisis Center, which begins accepting patients today. "This is a very conservative project," Gov. Butch Otter said at the opening on the Kootenai Health campus. "A lot of people maybe don't believe that."

Bonner, Boundary flood warning issued 

The National Weather Service in Spokane has issued a flood warning for small streams in Boundary and Bonner counties in North Idaho and Pend Oreille County in Washington. Reporting gauges indicate 2 to 3 inches of rain have fallen in the mountains of those areas....

High winds to hit mid-morning 

Schools across the region were open Wednesday for normal operations as the region braced for high winds. Crews from Avista Utilities were responding to 22 outages that had left about 800 customers without power, primarily in Spokane and east of Coeur d’Alene.
