Scott Blocks Popular Tax Credit

Legislation proposed by the state Board of Education to extend a popular tax credit for donations to schools has been hung up in a House committee for more than six weeks as a freshman North Idaho lawmaker pushes for amendments designed to cut out a North Idaho education foundation from the credit. Rep Heather Scott, R-Blanchard, told Idaho Education News she was unaware that the amendment she’s pushing, designed to remove the credit for donations to the Panhandle Alliance for Education, also would remove the credit from donors to popular public school foundations in Boise, Nampa, Caldwell, McCall, Blaine County and Idaho Falls. “I only have the one example,” she said. “Boise has one?”/Betsy Russell, Eye on Boise.
