CdA To Seek $15M Levy

The Coeur d’Alene School District will ask voters in March for a $15 million-a-year tax levy for 2 years, just over $2 million more per year than the levy that expires this June. The additional money will be earmarked for buying new curricular materials and hiring more teachers to reduce class sizes. The School Board voted 4-1 Monday night to set the levy request at $15 million in the March 10 special election. Trustee Terri Seymour voted no, saying she was in favor of keeping the levy at $12.86 million a year. Trustee Tom Hearn said he thought the request should be higher than $15 million but voted for the amount. Voters last agreed to increase the levy in 2011, upping it by $5 million a year. The levy currently funds 21 percent of the district’s budget/Scott Maben, SR.

Question: Will the Coeur d'Alene School District have a hard time passing this levy?
