Keith: The Day I Quit Hunting

KeithInCDA (RE: Barker: Hunters vital for conservation): I gave up putting big game (for that matter any game) in my cross-hairs about 5 years ago after a cow elk stepped out about 125 yards away and as I was about to harvest her, her 3-4 month old calf stepped out and looked at me as well, at that moment I reached the 5th stage of being a hunter (http://www.outdoorguide.com/?p..., I lowered my rifle and never fired a shot. I packed my gun away that fall and it's never been out since. I still go with friends and family every fall as it's my favorite time of year and I enjoy the guys that still love to hunt. It's just not for me anymore.

Question: Why do/don't you hunt?
