Timberlake students win Emmy Awards

Timberlake seniors Katie Malloy, Justina Kalar and Shea Dretke each received Northwest Regional High School Emmy Awards. They received the awards Friday in Seattle from the Northwest Chapter of the National Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Malloy and Kalar won in the "general assignment-light news" category for their coverage of a young athlete from St. Maries who overcame diversity to score in a high school basketball game. Dretke won the sports Emmy for her coverage of Timberlake High School's girls basketball team. Timberlake junior Collen Cronnelly was nominated in the news category for her coverage of speed limits in Spirit Lake.

"I can't believe we finally won an Emmy, two of them," teacher Chris Jarstad said in a press release. "Tiger TV students work so hard to make each year better than the last. This year was amazing, I'm so proud of what these kids accomplished." Read more. Cda Press
