An Ode To A Hero

From lakeside beat to urban street
The city's finest keep
A watchful eye through darkened sky
To give us peaceful sleep.

Their badges worn to hide hearts torn
The black stripes show their grief.
They know too well, a good man fell,
His lifetime much too brief.

From our highways to our byways
His comrades will connect.
To welcome home with song and poem
Their Brother with respect.

Where do we find this Thin Blue Line?
'Protect and Serve' their call.
From families' door they risk it for
The safety of us all.

So now they'll mourn, their candles borne
With horns and bagpipes send.
To Sergeant Moore our tributes pour:
'A Hero To The End'.
