Idaho AARP Backs Child Support
Idaho AARP is contacting members to sign an online petition in favor of Child Support Enforcement legislation that will be discussed by a special session of the Idaho Legislature, beginning Monday. In the petition, AARP writes: "Please support Governor Otter’s efforts to preserve Idaho’s child support enforcement program by signing our petition. This program will keep Idaho families strong by holding parents financially responsible for their children. If the Idaho legislature does nothing, more than 400,000 parents and children—or one in four Idahoans—will be negatively impacted." Nine Republican members of the House Judiciary & Rules Committee were responsible for the mess Idaho finds itself in as a result of their 9-8 vote to kill Child Support Enforcement legislation, including North Idaho legislators Kathy Sims of Coeur d'Alene, Don Cheatham of Post Falls, Heather Scott of Blanchard and Shannon McMillan of Silverton. You can see the petition here.
