Idaho Poll: Schools need more $$$

By large majorities, most Idahoans believe their public schools are underfunded, a new Idaho Politics Weekly poll shows. But the same survey by Dan Jones & Associates finds that most Idahoans don’t know it takes a super-majority of 66 percent of voters to approve a school bond. Even with that knowledge, Jones finds that most still don’t want to lower that super-majority approval so financially struggling schools can more easily bond for capital improvements – like building a new school. It is a dichotomy that Jones often finds in his polling about public schools: Citizens believe their schools need more funding, but they don’t necessarily want to raise taxes or change tax law to help provide for that increased funding/Idaho Politics Weekly. More here.

Question: Do you agree schools need more funding? Are you willing to pay more taxes to properly fund schools?
