Petitions target tuition, smoking 

A statewide signature drive launched last Tuesday aims at lowering tuition at state colleges and universities through increasing Idaho's cigarette tax. The drive is sponsored by the group StopTuitionHikes.com, which recently completed ballot language review and titling through the Idaho Attorney General's office.

McIntires give $1M to Kootenai Health 

In a moment that moved hundreds of people to their feet in a standing ovation, it was announced Saturday evening that longtime Hayden Mayor Ron McIntire and his wife, Joanne, are donating $1 million to the Kootenai Health Foundation. "You won't get a quote from me without me crying, maybe that's the quote," said foundation president Shawn Bassham.

Palouse churches back Pullman mosque 

A handful of churches and humanist groups are offering their support to Palouse-area Muslims after the Pullman Islamic Center was labeled a "radical mosque" in a recent online post. The label came from The Daily Caller, an online news organization co-founded by Neil Patel, a policy adviser to former Vice President Dick Cheney.

UI coaches profane, not rule breakers 

An investigation into allegations raised by an anonymous email has revealed to NCAA rule violations or major deficiencies in the University of Idaho football program, according to a news release. However, the investigation indicated that the coaching staff used profanity in the presence of student-athletes.

ignite cda help sought for building 

Three Idaho colleges have asked the ignite cda board for $2.5M to finish paying for a $9.5M project to build the North Idaho Collaborative Education Facility at the corner of Hubbard and College Drive in Coeur d'Alene. The 40,000sf center represents a giant step in the eventual build out of the proposed Education Corridor.

Puppets became life-long passion

Muriel Liere’s passion for puppetry began at the age of 5 when she saw her first puppet show at the Sportsman’s Show in Spokane.” Now 91, Muriel has crafted puppets for 12 fairy tales at least, but over the years it’s easy to lose count. Her Snow White and the Seven Dwarves were modeled after Disney’s version. Cindy tells you all about it below.

Purse has not been located and report was filed." Isn't the "Immaculate Reception" the name that Steeler fans gave to Franco Harris' catch during a 1972 playoff game with the Oakland Raiders?

Boise is among the nation’s bottom 10 mid-sized metro areas for wage growth, among both the lowest- and highest-paid workers, according to Headlight Data. And Idaho? The Right to Work for Scraps state? 50th of 51 in the nation in terms of wages. Thank goodness for Mississippi.
