Last-D: Paying double for tree trash 

LastDemoInIdaho encountered a peripheral problem that other senior citizens might share. First, he had to hire a guy down the street to haul away tree trash. Then, he had to pay and extra $300 to the transfer station to accept the three loads of tree trash. He considers the 2nd payment to be "double payment" for locals. Thoughts?

Silver Valley blood lead levels fall 

Today, Panhandle Health District (PHD) released the 2015 blood lead survey results. Results show that blood lead levels continue to decrease in the Silver Valley. PHD’s Lead Health Intervention Program (LHIP) screens for lead poisoning in children. Those living in northern Idaho’s Silver Valley are vulnerable to lead poisoning.

Cops: Man stole woman's underwear 12 

Here's an odd one for you from AP: Police in south-central Idaho say a man stalked a Kimberly woman and stole 90 pairs of her underwear. The Times-News reports that Edgar Ivan Flores Aguilar, 24, of Twin Falls, was arraigned Friday on one count of burglary and one count of first-degree stalking.

The Idaho Statesman reports: The Obama administration has responded to Idaho’s Gov. Butch Otter and 29 other governors, all but one Republican, who called for a halt to U.S. refugee resettlement following the Nov. 13 Paris terrorist attacks. A letter outlines the “rigorous security vetting process" for refugee applicants.

Warming center open next 5 days 

Jeff Conroy of St. Vinny's has announced that the agency's warming center will be open Thanksgiving night and Friday night as a result of extreme cold weather that is expected those two nights. A crowd, including Santa, enthusiastically helped Gov. Butch Otter and First Lady Lori Otter with the countdown to light Idaho's Capitol Christmas Tree on Monday. Poll: 49% say racism 'big problem' 

About half of Americans, 49 percent, say that racism is "a big problem," according to a new national poll conducted by CNN and the Kaiser Family Foundation. A third of Americans, 33 percent, described racism as "somewhat of a problem" in society, while 9 percent said it is "a small problem" and 7 percent said it is "not a problem at all.

Sanders most popular at home 

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is far and away the most popular senator among his own constituents, a new Morning Consult poll reveals. The veteran lawmaker, who is also a Democratic candidate for president, scored an 83 percent approval rating among voters in Vermont. His 13 percent disapproval rating also ranks as the lowest in the country.

Nearly three months after the Pullman Planned Parenthood office was firebombed, police say there are no suspects in the case. Pullman Police Cmdr. Chris Tennant said detectives followed lots of early leads to their logical conclusions, and in recent weeks the number of leads has diminished.

Wind Storm destroys 5 RVs 

The Tamarack RV Resort on Government Way suffered tremendous damage, as last week's windstorm destroyed five RVs, leaving some homeless. Tim and Charlee Morgan, along with their 7-year-old daughter, Alyssa, now consider themselves homeless again after a tree completely totalled the motor home in which they lived.

Utility crews continued to make progress in restoring power, but about 23,500 homes and businesses remained in the dark Monday night. Avista CEO Scott Morris said crews from six states and British Columbia have joined the massive undertaking of rebuilding Spokane’s power grid.
