Pronouncing Hval correctly 

At the recent Spokane County Library Ditrict Night at the Library, emcee Kris Crocker of KXLY nailed the pronunciation of Cindy's surname (Huh-vall). Kris made sure that she pronounced it correctly by contacting "War Bonds" author/HBO supersub Cindy before hand. (Question: Is your surname easy to pronounce?)

Keith, Bent to offer North Idaho Ciderfest

Richter, Uzur to perform at JACC

Classical guitarist Brad Richter of Tucson, Ariz., and Viktor Uzur will present a live concert at The JACC in Post Falls Friday. Richter is described as "one of the most influential classical guitarists working today." Mr. Richter is returning to the Inland Northwest for his annual Lead Guitar residency program with the Post Falls High School.

Ed Board told to be active in K-12

Idaho Gov. Butch Otter wants the state Board of Education to take a “more active role” in K-12 education, Idaho Education News reports, while in the past he had asked the board to focus on higher education. Otter articulated the new direction in a letter to the board over the summer, EdNews reports.

Up to 13 dead at Oregon college 101 

As many as 13 people were killed and 20 injured Thursday when a shooter opened fire in a classroom at a community college in southern Oregon. Attorney General Ellen Rosenbaum said the shooter was killed in the melee at Umpqua Community College near Roseburg, Ore.

Sheriff: Killing was self defense

The Bonner County Sheriff released the identity of the man shot and killed during a domestic battery on Tuesday at around 11:00 p.m. Scott Spangler, 44 from Priest River, was killed from gunshot wound. The Bonner Co. Sheriff confirmed Spangler was fatally shot by his wife in self-defense during a dispute at 4800 block of Spirit Lake Cutoff Road.

Update: Body found near I-90

Local law officials are now investigating the death of an individual at a grass fire along I-90/15th St, CdA, early this morning. Authorities weren't able to begin the investigation involving the burned body sooner because the area was too hot. The victim of the fire has not been identified.
