Report filed by Sgt. Christie Wood/Coeur d'Alene PD re: body found this AM in burned area:
At approximately 4:00 am this morning Coeur d’Alene Police Detectives responded to the area of E. Potlatch Hill Road near I-90, Exit 14, for the report of a fire and unattended death associated with the fire. The fire was reported at 3:35 am by passersby. Coeur d’Alene Firefighters arrived on scene and quickly stopped the fire from spreading beyond a wooded area that is approximately 30 feet by 30 ft. Firefighters discovered a body in the burned area and called police and Coeur d’Alene Fire Investigators. The area of the fire is unincorporated state land. ISP detectives and Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office detectives are also assisting in the investigation. Detectives and fire investigators have been hampered in completing the investigation due to the scene being too hot to enter. At approximately 11:00am they began processing the scene and have not yet completed their investigation. The victim of the fire has not been identified.
