Update: Renfro trial set Sept 2016

Jonathan Daniel Renfro, the man charged with first-degree murder in the May 5 shooting death of Coeur d’Alene police Sgt. Greg Moore, is scheduled to go to trial in about a year. First District Judge Lansing Haynes set Renfro’s trial date for Sept. 6, 2016, estimating it will last about four weeks. Renfro, who was arraigned Sept. 30, has waived his right to a speedy trial. He also is charged with grand theft, robbery, concealing evidence, removing a gun from a police officer and eluding police. Not guilty pleas to all charges have been entered on his behalf. If convicted of murder, Renfro could receive the death penalty. Kootenai County Prosecuting Attorney Barry McHugh has not announced if he will seek the death penalty in the case. That decision must be made by the end of November. Renfro, 27, remains in the Kootenai County Jail on $2 million bond/Scott Maben, SR.
