Cenex clerk thwarts robbery try

Robbery suspect description: White male, approx. 5'08", approx. 170 lbs., wearing light blue overalls, red hooded sweat shirt with a darker colored hood, and a light colored, bandana style mask.

At about 5:14 this morning, Coeur d’Alene Police officers responded to an attempted robbery that had just occurred at Cenex Zip Trip, 1427 E. Best Ave. Officers made contact inside the store with the male clerk. He stated he was working inside the store when he heard the door chime. He walked to the front counter from the back room and noticed a male with a hood up and mask on standing at the counter. The male suspect demanded cash. The clerk said no and walked to the back room. No weapon was brandished during this incident. The male exited the store and left traveling north bound on foot. At this time the incident is still under investigation. This suspect matches the description of a male that robbed the Frontier Grocery located at 2707 W.
