North Idaho fire report — 9.3.15

Info on Tower Fire, near Priest Lake, from USFS/IDOL/Coeur d'Alene Tribe news release:

Tower Fire – total acreage 24,450, 12% containment.  Alaska IMT (Kurth); 8/11 lightning start, located 17 mi. north of Newport, WA and 6 mi. west of Priest Lake, ID.    Fire personnel:  803.  (Part of Kaniksu Complex which includes fires in Washington and Idaho:  Baldy (515 acres, 100% containment), Onata (546 acres, 39% containment), Hall Mountain (39 acres), Grease Creek (609 acres), Slate Creek (1 acre), and South Fork Slate Creek Trail (167 acres). The Colville NF is managing the fire with guidance from Idaho Panhandle NF fire management.  Though fire activity has decreased, fire and smoke will still be visible.  Closures remain in effect.  A public meeting is scheduled Saturday September 5, at 7:30 p.m. at the Priest Lake Elementary School.
