Gookin, Hedden have political history

Councilman Dan Gookin and challenger Barbara Hedden have a political tie to the 2013 Coeur d'Alene City Council election. At the time, Hedden was the political treasurer for the controversial Truth North Idaho PAC that received bad publicity from the Coeur d'Alene Press for a questionable email circulated to candidates endorsed by Balance North Idaho. You can read about it here. And: here.  At one point in the controversy that involved council invocations and the anti-discrimination ordinance -- and before the principals behind Truth North Idaho came forward -- Gookin lashed out at the PAC: "The deception and deceit by the Truth North Idaho PAC is disgusting. If a person has the guts to take a political stand, then he puts his name on it, right there for everyone to see — just like the signers of the Declaration of Independence. These cheap tactics tarnish what those great men stood for, what they sacrificed." More here.
