1 old dog, many new tricks
Greg Lee, Betsy Russell and I spent 4 hours this morning trying to learn the basics of a new online-first system that will take effect later this month. I don't know how many times I've learned a new computer system during my 31 years at The Spokesman-Review -- and the years before that at the Lewiston Tribune and the Kalispell Daily Inter Lake. At this point, however, I'm close to crying: "Uncle." I suspect I'll learn enough to file my Sunday print column and some breaking online stuff. I'm glad that it doesn't affect my blog posting. I suspect the system will be in place fore awhile. So this will be my last newspaper computer upgrade. Eventually, this old dog won't be able to perform new tricks with emerging media software. My first media language is newspaper. My 2nd & 3rd media languages are Twitter and Facebook. No mas.
Question: How about you? When did you last learn something new in technology that was radically different than anything before?
