Balance backs only 1 in CdA races

It isn't a surprise that Balance North Idaho supported veteran Councilman  Ron Edinger over relative newcomer Toby Schindelbeck in the race for one of three Coeur d'Alene City Council seats this fall. But it is a surprise that Balance North Idaho didn't endorse someone in the race for incumbent Steve Adams seat. Adams and former county clerk Dan English are running for the seat. In a news release, Balance North Idaho said of the the race: "After interviewing the candidates for this seat, the Balance NI Board felt there was not a candidate of substance to warrant an endorsement." No candidate of substance? I don't like his anti-federal government stand but Adams has served on the council for four years. And English has served several terms as the county clerk. Both have substance. In races in other communities in Kootenai County, Balance North Idaho endorsed Councilman Joe Malloy over former mayor Clay Larkin in one Post Falls race and Lynn Borders in a second race. In a Hayden race, the nonpartisan organization endorsed Tim Timmons for a council position.
