A half-dozen times over the years, the Idaho Department of Lands has received applications for permission to lease state endowment land for an exclusive private hunting operation. Every time, the department has said no.

Jeff Sayer, director of Idaho’s Department of Commerce, says the notion that a minimum wage in Idaho should be a livable wage “scares me to death.” He agrees that Idaho’s economy cannot grow with low wages, but says that raising the minimum wage would create…

Column: Our body view needs revising

Jill Barville, a talented correspondent/columnist for my newspaper, was inspired by a recent SR story re: 6 women who lost between 70 and 300 pounds. She was particularly inspired that the women were focused on a goal, like a marathon, not on just how they looked. Jill summarizes: Our culture's view of the body needs revising.
