Rocky Barker/Idaho Statesman writes: "There used to be a popular bumper sticker that read “Idaho: The wilderness state.” I want to change the slogan to “Idaho: The wildness state.” I love wilderness and Idaho certainly has a lot. ... But only Alaska and perhaps Montana and Wyoming can compete with Idaho for wildness."

What a difference 6 years make

On Facebook, Dan English remarks: "Well, who says life doesn't have a sense of humor or at least irony. Adams files for re-election 

Councilman Steve Adams, who is known for opposing all purchases or contracts that have ties to federal money, has filed candidacy papers for re-election today. Adams, of 5292 N. Parkwood Circle, turned in his filing papers with signatures of six people including that of Toby Schindelbeck, who announced that he is running for Ron Edinger's seat.

Idaho low-balls home-care workers 

The U.S. Department of Labor is urging Idaho Gov. Butch Otter to act on a new rule that requires home-care employers to pay most home-care workers minimum wage and overtime. Several states already include home health care workers in minimum wage and overtime-pay protections, the Idaho Statesman reports, but Idaho is not one of them.

He was wounded and scheduled to be flown out. But before that he volunteered for a second tour of duty to take the place of his son in Vietnam.

Toby Schindelbeck, the relative newcomer from Chico, Calif., is running for office again -- this time for long-time incumbent Ron Edinger's council seat. Schindelbeck had been in Coeur d'Alene about a year, in 2014, when he challenged and lost a close race to Rep. Luke Malek for a House District 4 seat.

Millennials view themselves poorly 

Even millennials don't think much of their generation, according to a new poll Thursday. A Pew Research Center study showed that millennials — generally defined as those ages 18-34 — had far more negative views of their generation compared to Generation Xers, baby boomers or other age groups.
