County hires finance director

Dena Darrow, a Coeur d'Alene certified public accountant, has been hired as Kootenai County finance director, according to an announcement by County Clerk Jim Brannon. Darrow began work today. Darrow has a degree in accounting.  “But we’re most excited about her track record of leading teams toward continuous financial process improvement under tight deadlines,” said Brannon. Darrow was previously employed by Itron in Spokane, where she most recently managed the company’s global financial processes for more than 60 entities.  She is experienced in Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and Securities & Exchange Commission audit controls.  She has led numerous budget and systems enhancements, and worked with regional controllers in several foreign countries.  Her experience involves tax, legal, treasury, revenue and external reporting in compliance with the US’s Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and the International Accounting Standards Board.
