Huckleberries Online

Monday Wild Card — 4.25.16

Rise and shine, HBO. The skies over Rathdrum Mountain are looking mostly blue from my back window, so I'm just going to call it now: It's going to be a beautiful day. By now I'm sure much of the HBO family has heard the sad news that Tom Wobker, the beloved Bard of Sherman Avenue, died Saturday at the age of 71. I picked a poem of his to share today that struck me as I was combing the archives this morning. It's called "Beautiful Weather." “Our cloudy skies are/full of rains,/but we aren’t dodging/hurricanes.” I guess those words could mean different things to different people. As I looked out the window this morning, I could see clouds to the right. I turned my head and saw cloudless blue above the peak of Rathdrum Mountain and moved my chair a bit to better my view. An old hymn, "Keep On the Sunny Side," came to mind. I think that's what the Bard would want us to do today as we remember him. DFO is out until Thursday. I see he already admonished everyone to behave for me. I know what good listeners you are. Here's your Monday Wild Card, HBO. Coffee up and let's go!
