Huckleberries Online

Merry Christmas, Hucks Nation

I'm leaving my seat at HucksOnline Central to enjoy a customary week off with family during the yuletide season. When I return, my duties will change somewhat. I'll still be blogging. But not as much. As I've mentioned elsewhere, I'll be doing a lot more columnizing (until the readers and the editors get sick of me). After 47 years in the news biz, I finally will get a chance at a regular column that runs more than once a week in a good newspaper. My once a week Huckleberries (originally called Kootenai Grapevine) began its run in January 1985. Thirty-two years. I'm thankful to former SR editor Steve Smith for giving me a chance to blog full-time. I'm thankful for current Editor Rob Curley for giving me a chance to columnize more. And I'm thankful to those of you who have been on this journey with me here at HucksOnline for almost 13 years (come Feb. 16). This old dog learned a new trick when I began blogging in 2004. This older dog will try to take it up a level when I become a true hybrid blogger/columnizer Jan. 3. I'm ready for the challenge/DFO.
