Body of snowmobiler found in Idaho mountains

Authorities say an east-central Idaho snowmobiler has been found dead in a mountainous area northwest of Salmon. The Lemhi County Sheriff’s Office tells the Post Register in a story on Wednesday that deputies and rescue teams found the body of 58-year-old Michael Mogard of Salmon on Saturday.

More snow due for Inland NW

The parade of winter storms crossing the Inland Northwest shows no sign of letting up with snow expected Thursday night and again over the New Year’s holiday. Light snow is expected at lower elevations, but mountain areas could see 4 to 8 inches as the next storm appears as early as Wednesday at higher elevations and along the Canadian border.

Auto burglaries reported in Post Falls 

Post Falls Police are investigating a rash of auto burglaries that occurred late Sunday night or early Monday morning in the same vicinity in the north part of the city. At least eight vehicles north of Poleline Avenue and east of Idaho were targeted between 11 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. on Monday. Do you always remember to lock your car? CH

One-eyed girl, one-eyed cat find each other

So when she found Ernie the one-eyed cat on Panhandle Animal Shelter's interactive Home-to-Home Animal Adoption website, she felt an immediate sense of kinship with him. Nearly half of Idaho’s rape kits not sent to lab 

A new state audit of the evidence collected in Idaho’s sexual assault investigations shows that law enforcement officials didn’t submit nearly half of the rape kits to be tested. Officials say that’s largely because the cases were no longer being investigated or the agency determined no crime had been committed.
