AP New Year’s poll: Americans hopeful for a better 2017 10
Emotionally wrenching politics, foreign conflicts and shootings at home took a toll on Americans in 2016, but they are entering 2017 on an optimistic note, according to a new poll that found that a majority believes things are going to get better for the country next year. How hopeful are you for 2017 on a scale of 1 to 10?

Actress and writer Carrie Fisher, who rose to global fame as the trail-blazing intergalactic heroine Princess Leia in the “Star Wars” franchise and later went on to establish herself as an author and screenwriter with an acerbic comic flair, has died. My sons are sooo sad this morning. All of them had a Princess Leia crush.
Nampa police to get body cameras
Police officers in Nampa are likely to be wearing new body cameras in 2017. The Idaho Press-Tribune reported that police department administrators selected Utility Associates Inc. to provide new cameras and software at a price of no more than $100,000.

Fisher suffers heart attack
Fisher, 60, best known for her portrayal of Princess Leia in "Star Wars" films, reportedly suffered a massive heart attack today near the end of an international flight from London to Los Angeles. Her brother, Todd Fisher, told reporters later that his sister's condition has stabilized.

Facebook Friend Sharon Fisher of Kuna got an eyeful and then gave a drunk who was peeing in public, in broad daylight, an earful before the Famous Potato Bowl game in Boise Thursday. She had ventured out into the cold to pick up tickets for Boise State's Cactus Bowl game. Now, she wonders whether men really can't control their bladders.
