8 precincts face boundary changes

In a news release from the county clerk's office, elections manager Carrie Phillips announces:

Kootenai County Clerk Jim Brannon announced today that adjustments to boundaries for eight precincts are being proposed.  “Elections staff has proposed a rebalancing to serve voters more quickly, by making registered voter numbers more equitable across the area,” he said. The affected precincts are 38, 39, 40, 42, 43, 44, 45, and 51.  Registered voter numbers in these precincts now range from 628 to 1,999; under the proposal, the registered voter numbers will range from 883 to 1,573. The Board of County Commissioners will decide on the precinct boundary adjustments at their Business Meeting on January 12.  If the boundary adjustments are approved, Elections staff will send notification letters to registered voter households in late January.   About 2,050 registered voters in about 1,100 households will be affected by the boundary changes.
