Lake City Public Library — the new branch located in the Lake City High School library — is now open for business Monday through Thursday, 3-6:30 p.m. Visit the new branch and you can enter to win one of three Kindle Fire Tablets to be given away on Feb. 15. On Jan. 5, the Coeur d’Alene City Council approved a Memorandum of Understanding with Coeur d’Alene School District for the use of the high school space. Lake City Public Library has designated shelves for public library books and audiobooks, Internet and computer services available to the public, and can be designated as pick-up point for holds placed through the Cooperative Information Network catalog shared by all CIN member libraries. Branch manager JD Smithson, who also has reference clerk duties at the main library, will courier requested holds to the site. According to library director Bette Ammon, the official grand opening for the new branch will be on Monday, Feb. 1/Coeur d'Alene Press. More here.
