Lake City loves a parade 

Lake City turned out en masse to another Fourth of July Parade Monday -- and it was treated to one of the best. In the photo above, Lora Gervais, holding the American flag, leads the local Daughters of the American Revolution as it marches down Sherman Avenue.

Man dies in Post Falls drowning

A Spokane Valley man died Sunday morning from an apparent drowning in the Spokane River in Post Falls. Michael Williams, 25, was pronounced dead at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene. Williams was swimming Saturday evening at Q’emiln Park when he slipped under the surface for unknown reasons.

Hucks: Out, out, damn Litterbug

A Silver Valley woman found out how passionate Keri Alexander is against littering when she decided to toss trash from her vehicle at the I-90 exit at Osburn. Keri, the publisher of the Shoshone News-Press, saw red when she saw that blatant disregard for the state's littering laws -- and her community. Now, the litterbug is facing a court date.
