Are we using McEuen greenspace?

I asked Deputy City Administrator to provide a list of activities planned for the large green space at McEuen Park, fronting the Avista Pavilion. Basically, I want to know how much the space is being used. Here's Sam's reply:

"I spoke to Parks Director Bill Greenwood who said it appears that the area is largely being used the same way as last year. We definitely have summer major events there, and it is used for various groups quite often. I’m looking out my window now and I’m seeing what appears to be a summer camp of kids all wearing the same shirts spending time out there:

  • St. Vincent de Paul has a fundraiser on July 16 featuring Kelly Hughes.
  • Relay for Life will be huge out there on July 23.
  • Ales for Trails will use the plaza area on August 13
  • Ironman will use that area for August 27.

Smoke on the Water, a fundraiser for the Panhandle Parks Foundation was canceled this year, otherwise we’d have probably one more larger event than usual versus last year. It’s sort of a trade for St. Vinny’s event I suppose."

Question: Would you like to see anything else done with that large green expanse?
