City may spruce up Antelope site

The Spokane River site of the statue honoring Chief Morris Antelope of the Coeur d'Alene Indian Tribe could be in line for landscaping, after a recent meeting of the ignite cda board. ignite cda Commissioner Mic Armon asked Deputy City Administrator Sam Taylor whether landscaping was planned at the site, east of the juncture of River Avenue & Rosenberry Drive (Dike Road). Taylor responded that he didn't think so. Armon said he thought landscaping was needed for the site, which has no vegetation or benches, simply a rock wall above the Spokane River. Mayor Steve Widmyer, who is also on the ignite cda board, agreed with Armon and said he would talk to city staff re: the matter.

DFO: For those keeping score at home, I agree with Commissioner Armon and Mayor Widmyer on this matter. The state of Chief Morris Antelope is impressive. But something more is needed for the rest of the site. Thoughts?
