Is it Fort Ground? Or Fort Grounds?

I've often wondered what the correct designation is for the historic part of town surrounding North Idaho College. I've seen and heard if called Fort Ground. Fort Grounds. Fortground. And Fortgrounds. The SR uses Fort Grounds. The renamed Mullan Avenue, between City Park and Memorial Field, I believe, reads Fort Grounds Drive. The mayor operates Fort Ground Grill (705 River Ave).

DFO: I'm delighted that the city renamed Mullan Avenue as Fort Grounds Drive. Too many Mullan roads in this area.

Question: So what is the correct designation for the historic area?
