Now, the Moscow-Pullman Daily News raises the prospect that we might be well served by secretly recording all pols.

Why Ask Why?

When I arrived in Coeur d'Alene, the North Shore Resort & Convention Center still existed, although it had been taken over by Duane Hagadone. Later, it would become the foundation for the Coeur d'Alene Resort. It was common in the 1980s to refer to the land along the Lake Coeur d'Alene's beaches as the "north shore." I still do. Do you?

National Selfie Day? Really?

Someone somewhere -- maybe these guys -- have declared today to be National Selfie Day. I've never taken a selfie of myself. Then, I don't have a smart phone -- one of the tech advances I deny myself because I don't want to be plugged in during my off hours. However, I'm sure you have a smart phone. Feel free to post a selfie.

From city of Coeur d'Alene Facebook page: "Last week, this shelter was discovered and removed. It is illegal to camp on Tubbs as well as cut down trees or destroy other vegetation in our parks. While practicing karate moves on a makeshift Wing Chun Kung Fu wooden dummy is not against the law, destroying public property to do so is. We would prefer if one's karate is practiced in a legal manner. Parks staff and Police Department officers are now routinely patrolling Tubbs Hill to try to dissuade these types of issues."
