In this November 2016 photo, Livingston hunting guide Justin Souza appears near the scene where he shot and killed a charging grizzly bear in the mountains near Emigrant, Montana's Glastonbury neighborhood as investigators gather evidence. Souza encountered the bear while he was elk hunting in the area the morning before and said he shot the grizzly in self-defense.

Montanan drops charging grizzly

Justin Souza says he didn’t even know the big beast was there – that is, not until he saw a cloud of warm breath rising from a seemingly anonymous mound of earth.
