Police seek help in Kirk homicide investigation

Detectives investigating the killing of William “Bo” Kirk, a Coeur d’Alene man who went missing Saturday night, are putting out an appeal to witnesses of any unusual activity in several Kootenai County locations.

They want to talk to anyone who saw anything suspicious between 5 p.m. and midnight Oct. 22 in the area of Polson Avenue and Syringa Drive in Post Falls; around Hayden Avenue and U.S. Highway 95 in Hayden; Chilco Road south of Athol; Rimrock Road north of Hayden Lake; and the Hayden Creek area.

Any businesses or residents with surveillance or game camera recordings of those areas Saturday night are asked to review them for any signs of Kirk’s gray 2015 GMC crew-cab pickup with Idaho license plates K579913. The truck had a chrome toolbox in the bed.

Detectives also are asking people to take another look at previously released surveillance videos showing a masked individual driving Kirk’s vehicle at two bank ATMs. Links are on the Post Falls police Facebook page.

Kirk’s body was found Tuesday in the Hayden Creek area, and investigators confirmed the identity Wednesday. The case is a homicide investigation, but authorities have not disclosed how Kirk died.

Detectives from the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, Post Falls Police Department and North Idaho Violent Crimes Task Force are working on the case.

The sheriff’s office has set up a dedicated tip line for this investigation: (208) 664-1515. Tips also can be sent at anonymous-tip.html/SR.
