Trustees pick Murray for NIC board

The North Idaho College Board of Trustees appointed Brad Murray, of Rathdrum, to the newly formed Trustee Zone 5, at the board’s meeting Wednesday.

Murray recently retired as superintendent of the Lakeland School District after a 36-year career in Idaho public schools.

The trustee appointment was necessary because of Idaho House Bill 512, which was passed in the 2016 legislative session. HB 512 charges every Idaho community college with establishing five zones in its district divided equally by population. Because of the mandate from the state, two of NIC’s trustees – Ron Nilson and Todd Banducci -- resided in the same district, which is not allowed under the new law. Murray replaces Nilson, who officially resigned from his trustee position on Aug. 31.

The NIC Board of Trustees had six applicants for the vacant position, which will be up for election Nov. 8, 2016. Murray has filed to run in that election along with Geri Wile, of Post Falls/NIC Press Room. More here.
