KCSO: Beware of UPS scam call

News release from Kootenai County SO:

At 10:40 a.m. today, a resident received a telephone call from a private number. The caller had a very "thick" accent and stated he was from "UPS." He advised the citizen they had left a door tag at their home, and asked if the citizen would be home all day today. With our citizen not expecting a package and her husband working at United Parcel Service, she advised the caller of the above information. The caller immediately hung up. Please, if you receive a telephone call similar to this, do not give out any information. Some of the information the caller is attempting to receive will include your home address and days and hours you would be home (leaving the caller with information on when you will not be home). Prior to giving out any information to anyone, the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office asks the public to please call the business on their published business telephone number to verify if the information received is true.
