Teens gather in NIdaho for drugs, fights

Teenagers from all around the northwest have been gathering by the hundreds in North Idaho for parties that feature drugs, alcohol and “sanctioned fights,” according to a joint statement from Coeur d’Alene Public Schools and the Coeur d’Alene Police Department.

The parties are organized on social media and the location of the event is not given out in advance. People meet at a predetermined point such as a grocery store parking lot and then travel to the location of the party.

One recent party attracted 300 people and two teenagers were treated for alcohol overdoses, the statement said. Another party brought in 600 teenagers from Washington, Montana and Oregon.

The statement was emailed to all parents of high school students that attend Coeur d’Alene schools and released by the police department Thursday. Officials asked parents to pass along any information about the parties to law enforcement/Nina Culver, SR.

Question: It's 10 p.m. and do you know where your teen is?
