Huckleberries has confirmed a comment made by Searcher that Mark Browning is leaving North Idaho College for College of Western Idaho in Nampa. Browning, the NIC veep for Communication and Governmental Relations, confirmed the rumor in an email to Huckleberries.

Abducted Montanan found dead 

A woman who was kidnapped at a Montana rest stop was found dead early Wednesday inside a car parked near the Spokane International Airport. Spokane County sheriff’s deputies found Rita Maze in the trunk of her black Pontiac Grand Prix at about 12:30 a.m.

Trustees pick Murray for NIC board 

The North Idaho College Board of Trustees appointed Brad Murray, of Rathdrum, to the newly formed Trustee Zone 5, at the board’s meeting Wednesday. Murray recently retired as superintendent of the Lakeland School District after a 36-year career in Idaho public schools.

Open to through traffic

Fort Grounds resident Terry Godbout emails this photo of the roundabout area on the new Fort Grounds Drive. It's open. Once again, vehicles can use the street to gain entry into the historic Fort Grounds area. The street shut as part of reconstruction work on the Four Corners project that began this spring.

KCSO seeks run car in bike crash

KCSO is seeking a blue sedan driven by a male who hit and seriously injured a 28YO Coeur d'Alene mother riding a bicycle. Elycia M. Coleman was hurt when struck in a crosswalk at Honeysuckle Ave/4th St, Hayden, just before 6 p.m. Monday. Her 8YO daughter reports that the driver looked at her mother and her before driving off.

Tragedy strikes Bayview

On his Bay Views blog, Herb Huseland tells of the one-car accident earlier this week that claimed the life of a young Bayview girl, Adilnn, whose mother, Brittney Bullock, works with her sister at the Floating Patio. Herb is asking for donations to help the family through this tragic time.

Public meeting planned for North Idaho prescribed burn

Officials with the Idaho Panhandle National Forest are holding a public meeting to discuss a planned prescribed burn in North Idaho. The U.S. Forest Service plans to burn about 4.5 square miles in the Coeur d’Alene River Ranger District this fall. An open house-style public meeting on the plans will be held Wednesday.

Ailes settles sexual harassment lawsuit by Gretchen Carlson

Fox News and Roger Ailes have reached a settlement in the sexual harassment lawsuit filed by former anchor Gretchen Carlson. Fox News parent company 21st Century Fox also issued an apology to Carlson, who charged Ailes with sabotaging her career after she rebuffed sexual advances and complained about a hostile work environment.

The for-profit college chain ITT Educational Services is shutting down its campuses days after the U.S. Department of Education banned it from enrolling new students who use federal financial aid.
