Fire burns historic barn at event venue

A large historic barn that had been repurposed as a private event venue just outside Coeur d’Alene was destroyed in a fire Tuesday afternoon.

The two-story, 3,500-square-foot barn was the central structure on the Mooney-Dahlberg Farmstead, which holds a spot on the National Register of Historic Places. Documents filed with the National Park Service say it was built around 1925.

The 160-acre property spans a timbered hillside above the south banks of the Spokane River, just across from the town of Huetter. In recent years the farmstead has been called Settlers Creek, a venue for concerts, weddings, corporate dinners and culinary classes/Chad Sokol, SR. More here.
