NIC Bonners Ferry Center offers Family Fun Hike

The class will meet at the NIC Bonners Ferry Center, located at 6791 Main Street in Bonners Ferry at 9 a.m. on June 24. It will last until about 3:30 p.m. and the cost is $49.

This class is specifically designed for beginners, medium range and experienced lovers of the outdoors. It will explore and identify the vegetation and wildflowers that make up our excellent local habitats for a variety of wildlife, including mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians. It is open to families with children who have a sincere interest in the outdoors.

“We will take a few short hikes into some great spots,” Baxter said. “There should be some great photo opportunities and wildlife viewing.”

Baxter teamed with photographer Don Jones for the cover article in Sandpoint Magazine Winter 2017 entitled “Wings of Winter.” He has degrees in both Forestry and Wildlife Management with more than 40 years of experience working in wildlife fields. Research projects Baxter has been involved with focused on owls, goshawks, wolverines, Canadian lynx, grizzly bears, inland redband trout and North American badgers.
