Huckleberries Online

Christa, the Caveman and GU Women’s Basketball

I  just had the strangest Caveman interaction in the check out line at my local store. (Please note I smiled the whole time and kept it as jovial as I could.) The male cashier was singing GU Women's BBall praises. Then the guy behind me in line pipes up.

Man: Yeah, they're ok but the men's team is better. They were REALLY good this year.

Me: Uhhh.... Oh I think the women's team had a pretty good year, too. (Cashier agrees and we both smile.)

Man: I just think it's unnatural for women to play that sport. Just not right.

I looked to see if he was teasing me. He was stern and serious.

Me: Yeah, those women should be barefoot and in the kitchen.

Cashier, smirking: uh huh... 'barefoot and in the kitchen.'

Man: It's just, I don't know, ... *different*.

Me, lighthearted with a smile grabbed my bags and said: Yeah It's probably cuz of all the boobs & stuff. Have a gooooodddd dayyyy!
