Black bear kills 16-year-old boy during race in Alaska 

Authorities say a black bear killed a 16-year-old runner while he was competing in an Alaska race on Sunday. Anchorage television station KTUU reported that the teenager, whose identify has not been released, was a participant in the juniors division of the Robert Spurr Memorial Hill Climb race between Anchorage and Girdwood.

Teacher, 2 students shot at San Bernardino school 

An apparent murder-suicide inside an elementary school classroom in San Bernardino left two adults dead, including a teacher, and two students wounded, police and school officials said. Investigators believe “the suspect is down” and that North Park School faces no further threat, Police Chief Jarrod Burguan said on Twitter.

Boy, 11, hangs himself after fake social media posts 

Heartbreaking beyond words. CH Tysen Benz was at home when he saw social media posts indicating that his 13-year-old girlfriend had committed suicide. The posts were a prank, but the 11-year-old boy apparently believed them. Moments later, his mother found him hanging by the neck in his room in Marquette, Michigan.
